Chapter 2: Building Bodies

Colonies of cells begin to build,
Tentacles and mouth-parts,
Cilia and rudamentary gills.
Feeding on detritus.
Organisms start secreeting shells,
Body building limescale.
Jelly fish and flower-like chrinoids,
Nemotodes, flat worms.
Brittle stars - Echinoderms
Feather-stars, sea-ferns
Trilobites - the segmented worms
The cousins of crustaceans.
Over half a billion years ago,
There was a pan organic sea change.

Ammonites, belemnites and clams,
Jet-propelled molluscans.
Some of them the size of lorry wheels,
But weightless in the water.
Over half a billion years ago,
There was a pan organic sea change

Chapter 8: Lords Of The Air

Deep in the rocks of a Barvarian town.
Lying in stone, waiting to be found.
On the slate - wings out stretched.
Leaving its impression like a detailed sketch.

This was the first. The first of the birds.
Feathery growth made of cheritin.
Same as scales, or human nails.
They glided through the branches with their new found sails.

Lords of the air, Lords of the air.
Fly though the trees, Fly though the trees.

Darwin suggested intermediate forms.
Small birds evolving over millions of years.
Bill variation - proving evolution.
Like the varying finches on Galapagos Isles.
Bills were adapted for their specialist diets.
Cheritin projections, complex in construction.

Lords of the air, Lords of the air.
Fly though the trees, Fly though the trees.

Chapter 11: Life in the Trees

We're a close knit family group - give me a cuddle.
And I'll be your alpha male!
Then we can gorge ourselves on fruit with no trouble,
Thanks to a long prehensile tail!

And when there's a snake you can hear the commotion.
The canopy shakes with the simian motion.
The canopy lives and breathes
Give me life in the trees.
life in the trees!

And with a pair of grasping hands, intuition,
Long limbs and forward facing eyes.
Man! - we can swing from branch to branch with precision.
Show me your teeth and flash your eyes.

And when there's a snake you can hear the commotion.
The canopy shakes with the simian motion.
The canopy lives and breathes
Give me life in the trees.
Give me life in the trees!

Ocelots and panthers are patrolling the ground!
Quick let out a warning shout - Quick get off the ground!
get off the ground!
get off the ground!
get off the ground! get off the ground!
get off the ground! get off the ground!

Give me life in the trees. Give me life in the trees!
